Hi

Does anyone have any experience of if it ok for us to take a daily low dose aspirin to prevent heart disease and stroke. There seems to be so much positive feedback in the news at the moment that I wondered if I should be taking it?

Wishing everyone a good if wet weekend.

Best Wishes

Sue

Hi Sue,

I don't think you should start taking aspirin unless your GP or rheumy team have advised you to take it. Ask their advice first.

Love Doreen xx

Hi Sue,

As Dorothy and Doreen suggest, I also agree that you should check this first.

You don't say which drug/s you are taking, but information in the Low Dose Methotrexate Monitoring booklet, given to me by Rheumy Consultant at the start of my treatment, states -

"Always check with your Doctor or Pharmacist before taking any other medicine. This includes checking medicines you can buy over the counter such as Aspirin, Paracetamol or Ibuprofen, and medicines for coughs, colds and flu. Some of these can interact with Methotrexate".

Hope this helps.
